In Austria, the ski season is far from over

Spring is here, but there's no need to put your ski gear in the basement or garage as yet.

You can still have a few weeks of great skiing in Austria. Thanks to the snowfall (and despite global warming), skiing continues well into the spring even outside the glacier areas, and the Easter holidays have become another highlight of the long ski season.

In Upper Austria, while smaller resorts such as Hochficht close at the end of March, you can ski in the higher-up large resorts such as Hinterstoder or Dachstein West until Easter Monday.

The giant ski areas located further south such as Ski Amadé (Flachau, Zauchensee, Schladming) or Skicircus (Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn) are in full operation until mid-April.

In the Tyrolean resorts that are not located on the glacier, the end of the season is scheduled for April 16. However, in the glacier areas - such as those in Hintertux, Stubai, Sölden, Pitztal and Kaunertal - it is possible to ski until the end of May.

The situation is similar in Carinthia - while the lower resorts end their winter season just after Easter, Mölltal glacier will be in operation till the second half of May.

Although March and April are low season months, significant discounts should not be expected. As a result of spring holidays in Bavaria as well as due to the Easter holidays, the prices will tend to return to high season levels. Despite this, interesting price advantages can be found in various resorts. These include, for example, a free ski pass for children under 15, offered by both SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental and Skicircus Saalbach- Hinterglemm resorts if at least one parent buys a ski pass for three or four days. Some ski areas offer discounts if ski passess are bought online, in other areas the ski pass prices change depending on the current demand and the date of sale.
