No need for long introductions when it comes to Zillertal Valley. This vast valley of the Ziller River lies in the eastern part of Tyrol and is easily accessible from the highway between Kufstein and Innsbruck. With its excellent accessibility and over 530 kilometers of ski slopes, it ranks among the most popular destinations for Czech and Slovak winter sports enthusiasts.
The Zillertal valley is almost entirely lined with ski slopes of all levels of difficulty.
Most of them are concentrated in three large areas (Zillertal Arena, Ski Zillertal 3000, and Hintertux Glacier) and the rest in smaller centers such as Kaltenbach or Fügen. However, in the context of Zillertal, the word "smaller" is very relative. The Hochfügen-Hochzillertal-Spieljoch resort, located directly above Fügen, offers 102 kilometers of slopes with 9 cable car lifts that will take you up to 2,400 meters above sea level.
All the ski areas in Zillertal can be visited with a single Zillertaler Superskipass.
The lower stations of the cable car lifts are located as low as possible in the valley and are less than half an hour’s drive apart - hence they are easily accessible by car, ski bus, or train, which transports skiers and tourists as far as to Mayrhofen.
However, the range of winter activities is not limited to downhill skiing. The valley offers its visitors 125 kilometers of cross-country trails, 14 toboggan runs, and 9 ice skating rinks, to name but a few winter fun activities.
